Lies, lies and more lies
Had a similar experience with Mealey's and their lies... This time it's the Oxford Valley store.
Was called tand told my sofa was "on the truck on the way to the warehouse." I could pay for it over the phone or pay for it in the store and then they'd schedule delivery. I went to the store and lo and behold they can't find my sofa. Don't know where it is. Have to wait til Monday to get answers.
They allegedly called the manufacturer and that they can't get it expedited to get to PA. According to Mealey's someone from the manufacturer accidently left the sofa off the truck. They would call the manufacturer daily and keep me updated... That was TWO weeks ago.
So I did my research and called the manufacturer and I was able to get more answers from them in 3 hours than Mealey's was able to get in two weeks. I called Mealey's and played dumb like I hadn't heard from anyone and as soon as I spoke to Chrissy who supposedly had emailed the manufacturer that day and told her the information I had obtained she apologized and said she was "embarrassed". If Dan and Chrissy at Mealey's had done their jobs they would have nothing to be embarrassed about. For my inconvenience, I was offered a $100 gift certificate but when that came it was only $75.
Still waiting on my sofa that I was told would be here first Mid March, then March 5th, now end of March. Not impressed.

Don't buy the Guardsman Service warranty they try to sell
The warranty is a nightmare to file. It's has to be mailed in for starters, then they want uploaded pics that don't upload.
I'm 3weeks in and finally got a confirmed email that they got my paperwork. The customer service rep told me don't worry about the photos, just print out the out lay diagram and mark where the damage is and send the manufacturers name and model number of the furniture. *(Did that).
The 3 week later call came and there saying they cant come out unless the photos get uploaded, which I informed her they are on Jpeg and still dont upload. delay tactic I'm sure and why i can only assume that this problem will go right next to the almost 1000 complaints against them
Preferred solution: Fixed. I bought the protection plan for peace of mind in case of damage. Now it seems like the royal run around.

Bad Furniture
In only three years the material on my imitation leather recliner has deteriorated beyond use. The response from Mealey's was that the piece of furniture is out of warranty, so there is noting that they could do. They stated that I should have purchased the extended warranty, it was tow months past that warranty, based on their other conversations it is most doubtful that having the extended warranty would have helped.
They had the nerve to offer my a $100.00 coupon, they actually tried to get another sale out of this problem.
I and my family were loyal customers who have spent several thousands of dollars on furniture at Mealey's, well they will not get one more dollar of sales from any of us, I strongly recommend anyone needing furniture to look instead at AMerican Signature.

Lied to about quality of furniture
Bought furniture in November, 2012. Strange discoloring was happening after 2 weeks.
They allowed us to exchange the furniture for something different. It was a leather look polyester that we were exchanging. When looking for new, I stated I wanted something that was NOT going to fade and spot like the other. I had said I wanted REAL leather.
The closest set to the color we were looking for was listed as Bonded Leather. I questioned what Bonded leather was. The answer I received was that it was leather strips that were weaved together to make it even stronger than regular leather. When I asked many different times if it was going to lose color easily like the other, I was told no it wouldn't, every single time it was asked.
When I questioned why it was a few hundred dollars less than the regular leather I was told because that set was on sale at the time. I kept questioning the quality and kept getting back positive statements. We then purchased that set with the Guardsman Leather Protection Plan for 5 years. Within 6 weeks of having the new furniture, my husband sat next to me on the sofa and his belt hoop on the back of his pants wore the color down to black on the back cushion after 40 minutes of just sitting there with some movement back and forth.
We then noticed right below that was an apparent spill of some kind that dried and took some of the color out. It also made the back cushion stick to the bottom cushion like glue which ripped the material apart when we tried to separate it. Just last week the cat drooled on the bottom cushion of the sofa which left another large discoloration and tear mark where the 2 cushions stuck together. Mealeys had told us after the first incident that they will do nothing for us and if we wanted them to fix it, they would charge us.
Their insurance coverage that they carry through Guardsman has rejected the claim on the first 2 spots because they said it was normal wear that the one mark happened and the other was not covered because it's not a stain and it's not a tear, it's cracking and peeling.
I see it as a spill that took the color out of the sofa and a tear from the cheap material ripping after it stuck together and water wouldn't get it apart properly. No real leather should ever look like these spots do from the little that has happened.

I had a very good one at Oxford Valley. All 3 Managers were very helpful (Dan, Ray and Bob) as all 3 were involved in helping me.
Furniture took a little longer then expected but everything turned out good! We will definitely be going back to Oxford Valley when we need more furniture!
Yea… it's so nice when people take the time to say something good about a company. I worked there for years and truly they are an awesome bunch.
Sometimes bad things just happen. I know they would do everything in their power to assist their clients.
Wish more people would take a couple minutes to also say how pleased they've been. Why is it folks that we only bring up our negative experiences?
